Principal's Message
I would like to welcome you to the Eastwood Local Schools website for Eastwood Middle School. The years in “The Middle” can be filled with many experiences. It is a wonderful time in a child’s life to explore, evaluate, challenge, revere, and cherish the people and experiences that go on at this time of one's educational journey.
Middle School students may push you away and yet need your structure and guidance all at the same time. It is important to give them the space they desire, along with the lead that they need to keep them close. Let them know they can and will make mistakes, and that it is “OK”. Remind them that there are consequences for every action. These consequences can be good at times, and not so good at others. This is the type of safe environment that we want to create at Eastwood Middle School. We want to challenge our students to strive for success while learning lessons along the way. That is when “true learning” takes place and students react to their own situations while developing the behaviors necessary to navigate towards their goals.
The Eagle Way is the backdrop that we have chosen to develop those behaviors that students will need to grow into the types of citizens that represent the Community in which we serve. It establishes our Core Beliefs, that lead to positive Behaviors, to produce elite Outcomes. We will continue to teach these behaviors to our students and represent the type of culture that we want to build here at Eastwood Middle School. We want the “Middle Years” to be an overall positive experience that creates memories for students to reflect upon as they move ahead into the High School experience.
Eastwood Middle School wants you to be a part of this experience with your child. Please do not hesitate to reach out to teachers, staff members, and especially myself with questions, concerns, and even points that you want to celebrate with us. This communication is vital to overall providing the best Educational Experience possible. We all have the same goals in mind.
Thank You, and I look forward to being a part of your child’s educational experience.
Peace,
Dwight Fertig
